Training FAQ

22 questions, answered plainly. If yours is not here, the help page covers the app itself and the page on what this app is not covers the rest.

Who is this site for?

Someone who already trains wrestling somewhere, with a coach, and wants to look at the shapes between sessions: to slow one down, turn it around and check one detail. It is not a way to learn wrestling without a room.

Can I learn to wrestle from these studies?

No. Every study is a solo rehearsal of a shape a coach has already shown you. The site says so on every study page, because it is true. Wrestling is learned against a person, from a person.

Are the movements correct?

They are authored to match published coaching principles and measured against a written mechanical spec, and no qualified coach has reviewed a single frame. Where the spec turns a principle into a number, the number is the author's judgement and the spec file says so.

What is a study, and what is a phase?

A study is one or more actions in an order, with cues, faults and a drill prescription. Each action is divided into four phases with a cue each. You can play the loop, scrub it, step through the phases or hold one and turn the camera.

How many studies are there?

Thirty-six, arranged as a curriculum: foundations, mechanics, chains, defence and recovery, conditioning and situational. The curriculum page puts them in the order to work through.

Do I need a partner or any equipment?

Almost every study needs a mat and space. One partner study is mirror footwork with no contact. Two studies show a position with a second figure; they are illustrations to look at, not drills to do on someone.

What does the second figure show?

A position, with both bodies: the collar tie, the front headlock and the sprawl on a shot. The second figure is static and does not resist. Every one of those pages says it is an illustration of position, not a partner technique to copy without a coach.

Why is the second figure in red?

So the two bodies read apart from every camera. It is the same character in a second kit; the colours mean nothing beyond that.

Which style of wrestling is this?

The movement is general. The studies do not say what scores, what is legal in your style or what your rulebook calls a stalemate. The rules primer says where folkstyle, freestyle and Greco-Roman differ, and your coach says what applies to you.

Is the mat in the viewer a real size?

It is drawn to international competition dimensions: a nine metre circle, a one metre passivity band inside its edge and a one metre central circle. School and college mats in some countries differ, and the viewer does not say which code it is drawing.

How should I use the boards?

Open a board, change the work and rest times until they match how you actually practise, save it under your own name and put it on the clock. The clock rings bells between blocks and shows the next cue. Print the card for the wall.

What are the four-week boards?

Three boards with a week-by-week structure: foundations, entries and defence, and competition prep. Each week scales the work, rest and repeats of the base session and says what to attend to. They print as a single sheet. They are schedules for rehearsing shapes, not a training plan from a coach.

Can I make the studies harder or add weight?

No study on this site should be loaded. The hip lift shape in particular is a shape, not a lift. Ask a coach before adding anything to any of them.

What if something hurts?

Stop. The site cannot tell you why it hurts or what to do about it. A coach or a clinician can. The terms page says the same thing at more length.

Is it safe to drill the sprawl and the penetration step alone?

Only on a proper mat, only slowly, and only a version a coach has shown you. The study pages say this; it is not decoration. Knees and hard floors are a bad combination.

Does anything leave my device?

No. There is no account, no analytics and no server. Plans, notes and settings live in this browser. Export a backup from Settings if you want them somewhere else.

Does it work offline?

After one visit with caching allowed, yes. Private windows and some storage settings prevent that; Settings says whether the offline copy installed.

Why does the model sometimes look different on my phone?

A browser without hardware acceleration gets a lighter scene: no cast shadow and no reflections, so the frame arrives in time. The poses are the same.

Can I mirror a study for the other side?

Yes. The mirror option flips the whole scene, including the second figure where there is one, so a left-lead study becomes a right-lead one.

Where do the cues come from?

They are written for this site in the voice of a wrestling room, informed by the public coaching curriculum listed on the about page. No manual, photograph or footage is reproduced, and no federation is affiliated with or endorses the site.

Can I suggest a study or report something wrong?

The help page explains what the app can and cannot do. Corrections to a shape are exactly the kind of thing a coach should make; the site does not take feedback from a form because it has no server.

Is this a paid product?

This edition collects no payment. Commercial terms, if any, would be stated before a paid release, and none are stated now.
